Santa Maria del Cedro. Your holiday starts here

A long beach, a promenade beside the Tyrrhenian Sea and the citron that gave the town its name. Santa Maria del Cedro is best explored without rushing: first with a walk beside the water, then with a little curiosity about what lies further inland. Stay in our house and give yourself time for both.

A walk along the Giorgio Perlasca promenade

On Lungomare Giorgio Perlasca, the sea stays beside you for the whole walk. The promenade runs along the seaside part of town, with benches and greenery along the way. In the evening, stop for an aperitivo and watch the light change on the water. It is a lovely reason to be in no hurry.

There are bars and restaurants by the beach, including at Lido Azzurro and Pierino. Stay for pizza or dinner after your walk. Summer evenings also bring seaside events: in 2025, the municipality held a mercatino, or small market, on the new section of the promenade. Further dates are announced in local notices.

Citron, where it all begins

The name Riviera dei Cedri leads straight to the citron. It is this fruit that the Italian word “cedro” refers to here. Its cultivation has long been connected with Santa Maria del Cedro, so it is worth getting to know this less obvious side of the town as well as its beach.

At the Museo del Cedro, you can learn how citron was grown and why it means so much to the area. Afterwards, look for it in desserts and preserves. Getting to know the town then takes on a very real flavour, one you can take home with you.

Tracing Laos and old Abatemarco

The remains of ancient Laos survive in Marcellina. The ruins of San Michele recall old Abatemarco. These historic sites make it easier to imagine the area before seaside holidays. Look away from the beach for a moment and you will find a much older story.

Evenings of music by the sea

On summer evenings, Santa Maria del Cedro can fill with live music. The promenade has hosted events in the Mediterraneo Cedro Festival, and in 2026 artists invited to Arena dei Cedri performed beside Lungomare Giorgio Perlasca. When planning a summer stay, take a look at the concert calendar too.

Who has already performed in Santa Maria del Cedro?

Below we look back at concerts that have already taken place. If you are planning a musical evening during your stay, check the organisers’ announcements for the current programme, venue and admission details.

Stay a little longer

The Cedromare guide also introduces nearby beaches, hill towns and mountain valleys. Mark the places that interest you on the map. It is useful to have a few ideas ready, but you can just as easily decide on the next day over your morning coffee.

After your outing, you will return to Cedromare. And tomorrow? Another small town might catch your interest, or the sea and a long day on the beach might be all you need.
