A day on the water

Rafting on the River Lao during your stay at Cedromare

Between beach days, choose the river. A trip down the Lao lets you see a mountain valley at close quarters. Compare operators in Laino Borgo and Papasidero, then choose an outing that suits your group.

Choose your type of rafting trip

The valley looks different from a raft than it does through a car window. The rocks are close, the water sets the pace and each bend reveals another stretch of riverbank. Operators on the Lao offer both shorter first trips and longer outings through the canyon.

Names such as “family”, “classico” and “canyon” describe individual companies’ offers. Before choosing, tell the organiser the participants’ ages, experience and swimming ability. They will confirm whether the trip suits your group and the current river conditions. Time on the water is only part of the visit: preparation, a briefing and transfers also need to be included.

Laino Borgo and Papasidero

Bases around Laino Borgo and Papasidero serve different stretches of the Lao. Choose the rafting trip first, then save the meeting point given with your booking. The launch point, reception and car park may not all be in the same place.

For a day on the Lao, it is best to arrive by car or with transport arranged in advance. The links below lead to the companies’ websites and their arrival information. Cedromare does not organise these rafting trips or transfers to the bases.

Rafting operators on the Lao

River Tribe

Laino Borgo · Località San Primo 35

The range includes the shorter Fun Trip and longer options on the Lao. Fun Trip offers a first experience in a raft, once the organiser has assessed your group. The exact requirements and what is included are listed in the description of your chosen trip.

Lao Rafting

Laino Borgo

The company offers rafting, canyoning and guided walks in the water. You can begin by looking at rafting and compare the other activities separately. The contact page has a map of the base; confirm the meeting point when choosing your programme.

Rafting Adventure Lao

Papasidero · Via Monaci Basiliani

The organiser distinguishes, among others, a family stretch from Papasidero to Orsomarso, a classic route from the Grotta del Romito area to Papasidero, and a longer outing from Laino Borgo. Look at one specific option, together with its requirements and the duration of the whole visit.

Pollino da Vivere

Papasidero · Via Grotta del Romito 9

The centre offers several rafting options, as well as trekking and a ropes course. It is another way to compare a day on the Lao. The company’s address does not mean that every rafting trip starts at the cave; the organiser will provide the meeting point.

We checked the offers on 24 October 2026. Current prices, season, requirements and availability are provided by the company you choose. Operator names and links help you compare them; they do not indicate a partnership with Cedromare.

How to plan a day on the Lao

  1. Before leaving: choose one rafting trip and confirm the booking, time and meeting point. Ask how long the full service takes, from arrival to finish.
  2. At the base: leave your car where the staff direct you. Get ready for the activity and attend the briefing.
  3. On the river: follow the chosen stretch with a guide. Check the return transfer arrangements in the terms of your booking.
  4. After rafting: leave time to change and eat. If the day allows, take a short walk in Laino Borgo or Papasidero, depending on your base.
  5. In the evening: return to Cedromare. The following day can be quieter, with a beach visit and a leisurely breakfast.

Bring the items on the operator’s list, including dry clothes for the journey back. Ask about a place for a child, the briefing language or cancellation terms before paying for the activity.

Other activities around the water

Jannello: a guided walk in the water

Lao Rafting describes guided walks in the water around Jannello near Laino Borgo. The pace and way of moving are different from being in a raft. You will find details in the river trekking offer; this is not advice to enter the riverbed on your own.

For a quieter day by the water, choose the Argentino valley or a visit to Cascata del Vuglio. Each place has its own access route and visiting rules.
