Choose your season
Calabria all year round
In summer, you keep finding your way back to the water. In spring, curiosity takes you through the little streets of the towns, while autumn and winter leave more room for a whole day of walking and a leisurely dinner. Santa Maria del Cedro is worth getting to know in different seasons. Each suggests a different way to spend your stay.

Spring for exploring the area
Spring is a lovely time to linger in the towns. The murals in Diamante deserve a closer look, and old Scalea and Cirella invite a walk with your camera to hand. The sea is there along the way, sometimes for a brief stop, sometimes for the whole morning. Comfortable shoes will be more useful than a packed sightseeing schedule.
Summer with time for the sea
In summer, the sea is the main draw. A day on the beach, a boat trip along the rocky coast, or a swim followed by a rest beside the water: it is easy to stay on the coast longer than you planned. A walk around town can wait until later. Back at Cedromare, you can enjoy air conditioning in every room.
In the evening, the promenade tempts you out for another walk and the restaurants invite you to dinner. There may also be a chance to listen to music: Santa Maria del Cedro has hosted Mediterraneo Cedro Festival events and Arena dei Cedri concerts. The current programme will show what is on during your stay.
Autumn for discoveries of your own
In autumn, return to places you hurried through in summer, or get to know the area for the first time. Museo del Cedro tells the story of the local citrus fruit, and the hill towns invite you to walk. You do not have to see them all. It is worth leaving time for a long conversation over lunch, too.
Winter by the Tyrrhenian Sea
In winter, the views and walks alone can be a reason to come to the sea. When the weather is kind, choose the promenade or the streets of one of the towns. Then a coffee, a leisurely lunch and home again. It is a good time for anyone who likes to relax without the everyday rush.
Cedromare has gas heating. After a walk, it is lovely to come back for dinner, settle down with a book and plan the next outing around the weather. A winter stay suits a few days away as a couple as well as a longer break. Check the forecast before going out to make the most of your day.
Temperatures throughout the year
Compare the average temperatures month by month and check the forecast for your stay. The weather page has a table for the Bonifati AM station and a forecast for Santa Maria del Cedro.
The mountains have their own seasons
Beech woods and open clearings invite you to see Calabria’s mountain side, too. Orsomarso and Pollino let you combine a stay by the sea with a chosen walk or a longer hike. Choose the time of year to suit the particular trail.
In winter, conditions high in the mountains differ from those on the coast: snow or ice can affect access and change the nature of a walk. A heated home makes a stay outside summer easier, while your choice of mountain outing still depends on the weather and up-to-date local information.
